Writer's and photographer's Awards Program
PURPOSE: The purpose of the Writer’s and Photographer’s Awards Program (WPAP) is to encourage the creations of presentations, photographs, articles and other artwork for the TOKAC newsletter and website. To showcase TOKAC members contributions to the hobby through their writing and artistic efforts.
THE WPAP COMMITTEE MAKEUP AND FUNCTION: The WPAP committee is made up of one chair and up to 2 additional members their purpose is to oversee WPAP Program including awarding points to qualifying members, maintaining records and presenting awards, As well as revising the rules and regulations when necessary.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
- An oral presentation or written article must be of original content by you, the Author, any plagiarism is grounds for expulsion from the WPAP program
- An Artwork or Photograph must be of original content by you the artist, any plagiarism is grounds for expulsion from the WPAP program
- A completed WPAP form must be submitted, complete with a copy of the artwork and/or a internet link to the content being referenced
ELIGIBILITY:
- All members in good standing are eligible for WPAP. If any member should not renew their membership, awarded points will be kept on an “inactive list” until such time that they renew their membership.
AWARDS:
- The TOKAC WRITER'S AWARD will be given to the TOKAC member who accumulates the highest number of points, as described in the points accumulation rules, for original written articles (from our newsletter/website to national publications and Websites) from January 1st to December 31st.
- A. TOKAC ORATORY AWARD will be given to the TOKAC member who accumulates the highest number of points, as described in the points accumulation rules, for original presentations given at events (from monthly meeting to national conventions) from January 1st to December 31st.
- A. TOKAC PHOTOGRAPHER'S AWARD will be given to the TOKAC member who accumulates the highest number of points, as described in the points accumulation rules, for original photographs (from our newsletter/website to national publications and Websites) from January 1st to December 31st.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
David Stewart developed the TOKAC WPAP program rules as a member of TOKAC. The IP contained within is not transferable without consent from TOKAC and David Stewart
CLASSES:
There are three classes A, B, and C. The different classes are determined by type of artwork contributed
POINT VALUE:
ORAL AND WRITTEN BASIC POINTS
10 - Required BAP or HAP articles. 10 - Short articles or presentations (less than 50 words) such as Tips, Fish of the month, Plant of the month, Etc 20 - Not required articles or presentations on any hobby-related subject, including letters to the editor, of more than 50 words.
ORAL AND WRITTEN BONUS POINTS
20 - A continuing column of six or more editions within the time frame of the contest. Awarded upon publication of the sixth (6th) edition. 10 - Articles reprinted in another club's publication (each reprinting). 10 - Articles mentioned or reviewed in a "for profit" hobby publications. 30 - Articles reprinted (with permission of the author) in a "for profit" hobby publication. These may be edited by the publication or the author but must be substantially the same. 5 - Original photo submitted with an article.
15 – 1st place in Article of the month contest.
10 – 2nd place in Article of the month contest.
5 – 3rd place in Article of the month contest.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND ARTWORK BASIC POINTS
10 - Short (no less than 6 photos) photo journals of specific plant or animal, the journal must have an educational purpose (spawning behavior, eating, growth, etc) 20 - Long (no less than 12 photos) photo journals of specific plant or animal, the journal must have an educational purpose (spawning behavior, eating, growth, etc) 20 - Original hand-drawn artwork of fish or plants. 10 - Other original drawings or cartoons, hand-drawn, or computer assisted.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND ARTWORK BONUS POINTS
20 - A continuing photo journal of six or more editions within the time frame of the contest. 15 – 1st place in Photo of the month contest.
10 – 2nd place in Photo of the month contest.
5 – 3rd place in Photo of the month contest.
